Run From the Sun is an extremely addictive game in which you must constantly keep launching your rocket ship from planet to planet. The sun is following close behind so you must be fast and precise with your aiming. If you aim close enough, the targeted planet's gravitational force will guide to towards it. However, if your aim is a little off, the trajectory of the spaceship will send it floating into the abyss and you will be sent back to the last planet that you launched from. This is important because a good strategy is to aim for the planet nearest you. This avoids you being forced to go way back closer to the sun, which will engulf you in flames. You must also avoid meteors shooting at you as you try to outrace the Sun.

The game is quite a lot of fun as you constantly try to unlock more and more ships by trying to get a higher score. The creators of the game have done a great job in keeping the gameplay physics engine front-and-center instead of trying to hide behind a bunch of bells and whistles. That said, the graphics and artwork are pretty impressive. You are given awards for pulling off tricky stunts such as slingshotting to other planets or planet-hopping. The scores you get from these stunts allows you to unlock more ships that have certain features like greater takeoff velocity or different sized oxygen tanks. It should be noted as well that the game's soundtrack is a totally successful take on the spooky sci-fi soundtracks of the past.

You launch your ship by pressing either the Spacebar or the Left mouse button.
